São Silvestre Barreiro by Fidalbyke

On Saturday we joined some friends and went to Barreiro to participate in the 13th edition of the night tour S. Silvestre (the biggest in Portugal), organized by the Fidalbyke Cycling Association in partnership with the Barreiro City Hall.

Originally the events of S. Silvestre are linked to running, and its first edition was held in the city of S. Paulo in Brazil in 1925 on December 31, and is repeated every year since, intending to mark the date of the pope's death, also canonized on this day in the fourth century of the Christian era and from where its name comes.

This mountain bike ride was simultaneously a Solidarity action where were promoted the supply of basic necessities that were later delivered to a Social Solidarity Institution

In spite of the very cold that was felt, there were still about 600 cyclists who rode the streets and trails of Barreiro, without missing the passage through the Mata da Machada.

Always in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere we still had in the middle of the tour a stop for tea and cake and in the end the traditional green broth soupe.

Congratulations to the organization and for the year we will be back
